KostikApr 7, I know that Touratech and Altrider both claim this bar can bend and break the valve cover, my BMW dealer claims the other bars that bolt to the engine can cause engine damage. I don't ride off-road alone so I'm not worried about being stranded alone with a broken valve cover miles from the nearest sign of civilization. Would anyone recommend switching to the much beloved Altrider crash bars? But I am unhappy with the OEM bars developing surface rust and not too pleased with them covering up the spark plug access. Two weeks ago, I was severely injured when I got rear ended. Not like tight. I look install instructions they did what they sud. And basically it has some free move just to prevent crash-bar coming inward. I have the TT reinforcement bars and they should be tight.
There are several washers supplied with the bars to compensate for the frame being maybe a mm off. Once mounted they should not move at all.
It looks like whoever installed them omitted a washer here and there ADV Sponsors. Just want to make sure it is worth the money. SCflyerDec 21, I have them and for me went of fine and no major crashes but good so far. Haven't utilized them yet, but they definetly fit snugly. Have used them in wind blown tip over and no damage to crash bars ensued.
Also, it is not required to remove them from the crashbars to remove the crashbars from the bike, which is good because they do fit snugly! I have the oem cylinder guards also.

I can see the potential for keeping the stock bars from bending in on a laydown. Had mine powdercoated along with the stock bars before mounting The stock steel is not very hard and easily bends in. Even at a normal stand still drop. With these, it can't. I had a lowside recently and these bars held everything in place.
